Popular Newsday columnist BC Pires passed away at his Barbados home on October 21, 2023 in the company of his family.

Pires was a supporter of the TT Film Festival and produced two columns for Newsday, Thank God it’s Friday and Trini to the Bone. He wrote for 35 years for local and international media and was a columnist for the Trinidad Express, TTIndependent, Trinidad Guardian and finally, TTNewsday.

He was remembered by his colleagues in a number of published tributes.
