(Updated: November 15, 2023) On November 14, MATT President Ira Mathur sent the following message to members of the association regarding the nominations process…

We hope you’re doing well.
As you are aware, nominations for positions on the MATT executive have been open for the past few weeks. Thus far, we have had no nominees for President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary and Treasurer.
The executive has reached out to several members; however, several invitations have been declined due to time constraints and pressures.
We understand, too, that the responsibility appears onerous. However, this executive would like to reassure you that should you choose to serve you will have the full support of the current executive, and no one person will bear the burden of the job.
As the outgoing executive, we are appealing to you to put yourselves forward to ensure the robust fourth estate, a vital pillar of democracy, an essential watchdog over partisan political interests and people in power , and an essential voice of the voiceless.
Given the lacklustre response thus far, should we not get a response by tomorrow, we propose extending the nomination date to the 25th of this month, a position we can only confirm by the end of the working day tomorrow.
The nomination forms are attached alongside the MATT constitution as per our previous email.
Please feel free to reach out to any of the Executive members via email or phone.
Warm wishes,
MATT EXECUTIVE.
