The interim execùtive of the Media Association of Trinidad and Tobago has started its visits to newsrooms. The executive, led by journalist Dale Enoch, is on a campaign to encourage greater interest and participation in the organisation and its mission of support to media practitioners.

The interim executive has visited newsrooms and spoken with journalists at TTNewsday and Guardian Media. The interactions have been encouraging and the expressions from practitioners are noteworthy.

In addition to building membership, the term of the interim executive will come to an end this month and a new executive team will be elected to represent the interests of local media.

The executive will continue its tour with visits to the TTExpress, TV6, OCM Radio Network, Tobago newsrooms and Radio Jaagritii.

Tobago journalists meet with the MATT executive on March 15, 2024

Of the visit to Tobago, Interim President Dale Enoch and vice-president Kandace Jackson said that, “[It was] a very vibrant and spirited visit to Tobago on Friday 15th. Thanks to Kandace and her fellow media workers. They had suggestions for better relations between MATT and its Tobago members. [There were] complaints too but not vicious…engagìng. We had to ìnteract with two groups at different times. It was good.”

The executive has spoken to newsrooms on its tour at Newsday, Guardian Media, the Express,TV6, Tobago media which included journalists from Tobago Updates, Radio Tamarind, Channeĺ 5 and others.
